Is anyone else noticed the timing? Spinal Tap II comes out in September, bombs at the box office, and three months later the director is dead? It feels like the whole project was cursed from the start. The movie was delayed, the reviews were mixed, and now this. It casts such a dark shadow over what should have been a fun nostalgia trip. I can't even process the news about Nick Reiner. We all knew he had struggles (he wrote Being Charlie about it!), but for it to end like this? It’s the darkest Hollywood tragedy since Phil Hartman. Rob Reiner gave us The Princess Bride and Stand By Me—stories about heart and friendship—and to die in such a violent, hateful way at the hands of his own son is Shakespearean. The industry needs to stop glamorizing 'troubled artist' kids and actually intervene before it gets to this point. It’s sickening.
