The DisCos don't care about metering you because 'estimated billing' guarantees them revenue whether they supply power or not. Until we kill the estimated billing regime effectively—not just on paper—the grid will never improve.

The 'Estimated Billing' system is the biggest legalized fraud in Nigeria. NERC released the January 2026 capping order to protect unmetered customers, but the DisCos are ignoring it completely. I just saw a bill for ₦85,000 for a 2-bedroom flat that had light for maybe 4 days this month. They are literally billing us for the darkness. If you don't have a prepaid meter in 2026, you aren't a customer; you are a hostage. We need to start suing these DisCos individually for violating the NERC cap.
