It is actually disrespectful to have the Super Bowl in New Orleans and NOT choose Lil Wayne. Wayne is the living legend of that city. He has been campaigning for this for years, and to give it to Kendrick—who is an outsider from LA—feels like a slap in the face to Southern hip-hop culture. Jay-Z and Roc Nation played politics here. Kendrick is great, sure, but you don't walk into someone's living room and eat their dinner. This should have been Wayne's moment to shine in his hometown.

People forgetting that Kendrick has an insane catalog of hits beyond just the recent diss tracks. 'DNA', 'Humble', 'Alright', 'Money Trees'—the energy in that stadium is going to be electric. He is arguably the greatest live performer in rap right now because he doesn't rely on backing tracks; he actually raps every bar. I’m expecting high-concept visuals, marching bands, and zero gimmicks. This is going to be top 3 halftime shows of all time, right up there with Prince and Dre.

Kendrick Lamar doing the Super Bowl in New Orleans is the final nail in the coffin for the beef. This is the biggest victory lap in hip-hop history. After 'Not Like Us' united the entire world, the NFL had no choice but to pick him. We are about to witness a masterclass in performance art. I hope he brings out the whole West Coast and turns the Super Bowl into a Compton block party. He is the only artist right now who can balance artistic integrity with commercial appeal. Drake who?
