The Milwaukee Brewers are the smartest team in baseball, and it hurts to admit it. Trading Freddy Peralta after a career year was cold, but logical. They knew they weren't going to pay him $150M next year, so they flipped him for two elite prospects who will be in the majors by August. It feels like they are 'giving up,' but this is how they stay competitive for decades without a massive payroll. They sell high, reload, and win the Central anyway. It’s Moneyball on steroids.

Mets fans are celebrating, but they just got fleeced. Giving up Jett Williams AND Brandon Sproat—two of your top 5 prospects—for one year of Freddy Peralta is insane. Peralta is a rental who is a free agent in 2027. If he gets injured or walks next year, you just torched your farm system for nothing. The Brewers do this every time: they trade their stars at peak value (Burnes, Hader) and rebuild instantly while the other team gets stuck with the bill. History is repeating itself.

Steve Cohen has officially gone 'God Mode.' Trading for Freddy Peralta less than 48 hours after landing Luis Robert Jr. and signing Bo Bichette is the most aggressive week I have ever seen from an MLB front office. Peralta isn't just a 'good' arm; he finished 5th in Cy Young voting and led the NL in wins last year. Putting him at the top of the rotation instantly makes the Mets the favorites in the NL East. They aren't trying to build a 'sustainable winner'; they are buying a World Series ring for 2026. And I love it.
